Lionsgate will distribute a new Michael Jackson biopic that will be produced by “Bohemian Rhapsody’s” Graham King. The film is being made with the cooperation of the Michael Jackson estate.

In 2009, Eddie Murphy was set to star in a Richard Pryor biopic for Dreamgirls director Bill Condon. Years later, Mike Epps was supposed to play Pryor for filmmaker Lee Daniels. Neither of those versions never ended up happening, but Hollywood is still itching to mine comedic and dramatic glory from Pryor’s whirlwind life.

Irish actor Ruairi O’Connor will play rock ‘n’ roll icon Buddy Holly in the biopic “Clear Lake” with a tentative production start date set for the spring. O’Connor, who stars as a young King Henry VIII in the Starz miniseries “The Spanish Princess,” was selected following a six-month search by the producers and casting directors.
