Kate Hudson has signed on to star in Season 2 of the Apple drama series “Truth Be Told.” In her first regular television role, Hudson will appear alongside series lead Octavia Spencer. Spencer returns as Poppy Parnell, a true crime podcaster, in the second season. Hudson will play Micah Keith, a lifestyle guru.

Significant Mother and Life Sentence creators Erin Cardillo and Richard Keith are heading back to The CW. The network has put into development mystery drama Pandora’s Box and Ship from the pair. The duo will write and exec produce via their production firm In Good Company with the Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas.
ABC is developing American Heritage, a drama from writer Matt Lopez (Bedtime Stories). The network bought the project preemptively with a put pilot commitment. Written by Lopez, American Heritage is an epic drama about two Latinx immigrant families vying for wealth, power, and the American Dream in California’s Sonoma Valley.
HBO Max has set the cast for the drama pilot “Red Bird Lane,” with Oscar winner Susan Sarandon set to star. Along with Sarandon, Kiersey Clemons, Isidora Goreshter, Danny Huston, Ash Santos, Fiona Dourif, Dizzie Harris, and Tara Lynne Barr will also star. The show is described as a psychological thriller about eight strangers.
There have been many male-centered films about astronauts, but director Alice Winocour is here to change all of that with her drama Proxima. Vertical Entertainment has acquired the North American distribution rights to the space drama starring Eva Green and Matt Dillon. Proxima is set to hit VOD and digital on November 6.
